Master’s Degree in Europe
Hello, my dear readers! My name is Sasha, I’m 22, I’m young, full of energy, and infinitely happy. I’m getting a Master’s Degree in my dream University in Europe!
That is what I hope to write in 6 months. Right now I’m a senior at the Linguistics University of Nizhniy Novgorod. For several months I’ve been living with an aspiration to continue my education in another country, and every day I put an insane amount of work in on my dream. Studying abroad is something I didn’t think I was capable of, but hey! We live only once, and if I didn’t try, I would regret it for the rest of my life.
In my blog I would like to share my experience and to give some tips on how to prepare better and avoid some mistakes (yeahhh I wish I’d known those things before…)
If you’re interested in applying for a foreign program (or want to have some fun) — welcome to my page!
What was my initial plan?
In September I listened to a former student of my University about her Master’s in Germany. She highlighted that if we wanted not only to be admitted (which is also a Russian roulette) but also to have a choice, we had to apply to as many programs as possible.
My way started in October. I created a word document where I put all the necessary information from various Universities’ sites, but boy! That turned out to be so time- and effort consuming, that I felt completely drained just after an hour of such work. You won’t believe it, but the following day I accidentally ran across an ad on insta. It was an American company ‘StudyFree’ that also had a department in Russia. I’ll write more about it later, but I just want to say that if not for them, my dream could never come true.
In my next posts I’ll tell you about my experience in TOEFL (I know how stressful and unbearable it may seem! So don’t worry, I know how to calm you down a bit), CV developing, motivation letter writing, documents you need to send and what challenges you may face at that point, scholarships, and just how not to end up in a mental hospital dealing with all that in the final year of your Bachelor’s Degree:)
